"It takes a village to raise a child" is a well-known saying implying that the transition to parenthood needs to be supported as the caring for and upbringing of a child requires the involvement of not just parents but also a larger care-and-support network. We look deeper into understanding how this village concept can be applied within current societies, health systems and policies to ensure healthy and flourishing populations now and for future generations.
While we are deeply concerned about the lack of consensus and clear direction in acknowledging the Fourth Trimester, we are also encouraged by emerging interest, insights, and initiatives throughout the world that are (at least partially) addressing this gap in care and support. In this Summit, we will share some of these initiatives and work together as catalysts for change.
We sincerely hope that this proposal inspires you. We call on all sectors, disciplines, and individuals to collaborate and take action for a unified recommitment to the Fourth Trimester. We firmly believe that we all have a part to play in building a healthy future for women, children, and families.

About Postnatal Support Network and the Postnatal rEvolution Summit
The Postnatal Support Network (PSN) addresses the importance of a well-informed and well-prepared Third Trimester, with a focus on the first 6 weeks postpartum. PSN is an international NGO promoting a supported and relaxed postnatal rest and bonding time. It organizes trainings for postnatal doulas and supporters, offers information for parents who are preparing themselves, and provides an online directory of local professionals.
With the Postnatal rEvolution Summit, PSN amplifies and expands its voice in collaboration with the European Doula Network (EDN) and Geboortenis Zutphen. This Summit brings together the shared vision to facilitate a dialogue between sectors and disciplines involved in postpartum care and its social relevance to the well-being of our society.
