We asked recent trainees what came to mind when they thought about our training

Dear Reader,

If you are considering joining us, we thought you might like to hear from the people who have already taken the journey.

We asked recent trainees what came to mind when they thought about the training.

Their answers were:

Nourishing.
Grounding.
Empowering.
Deeply validating.
Holistic & inspired.
Kindness.
Non-judgmental.
Caring.

These words capture something important about what we hope this training offers.

Yes, you will learn practical skills and gain knowledge about postpartum recovery, nourishment, emotional support, infant care and the first forty days after birth.

But becoming a postpartum doula is about more than acquiring a toolkit.

It is about learning how to be with a family.

One trainee, reflecting on her internship, described a profound shift in her understanding of the role:

“Working as a doula is not about what I do for the client, but it’s about being there with the client.”

She discovered that some of the most meaningful moments were not moments when she was doing something. Sometimes she simply sat with a mother while she ate or breastfed her baby. In that quiet space, the mother began sharing her fears and frustrations. The trainee was able to practise something at the heart of our approach: quiet listening without needing to solve every problem.

Another recent trainee wrote:

“I felt deeply inspired by the way postpartum was approached with so much care, respect and awareness.”

She said the course strengthened her confidence in supporting families during the first forty days and reminded her how powerful it is to help someone feel truly held.

Another described the training as:

“Nourishing, grounding, empowering and deeply validating.”

She particularly valued the emphasis on rest, support, nervous-system regulation and feeling held during the postpartum period.

And another trainee told us:

“What comes through in this training is that you all genuinely care.”

That may be the feedback that means the most to us.

Because this is ultimately what postpartum care is about: care that is skilled, knowledgeable and practical — but also deeply human.

What did trainees value most?

Across the feedback, participants highlighted:

  • The instructors
  • Practical exercises
  • Live online sessions
  • Study materials
  • The depth and warmth of the training
  • The practical tools they could bring into their work with families

Recent trainees rated their overall satisfaction with the training between 8 and 10 out of 10, and rated the quality of instruction between 9 and 10 out of 10.

Dear Reader, If you’ve been in our community for any length of time, you know about the isolation, the lack of continuous care, and the deep depletion facing new families during the Sacred Window... But today, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we need to talk about the most severe, underreported outcome of this care vacuum: maternal mental health. Global research shows that: More than 50% of all maternal deaths occur after birth (Spelke & Werner, 2018). That equals one mother lost every two...

Dear PSN Community, We are standing at the threshold of Spring. Today marks the spring equinox: that rare, fleeting moment where light and darkness meet in perfect shadow and flame. It is a point of balance. A passage. In ancient mythology, this is the time of Inanna’s return. After her descent, after the stripping away of her layers, after traversing everything that could no longer remain... she rises. She returns changed. More true. More whole. Perhaps you, too, have traversed your own...
