About the importance of communities...

"The only thing all humans share is that they are all born from a mother."

Earlier today, we discussed postpartum reality in Europe. Anita Budak (EDN), Ekaterina Cupelin (PSN), and Manon Zuuring (Geboortenis) met live on Facebook, and if you didn't have the chance to join them live, you can always watch the replay.

It was a powerful discussion about postpartum experiences, support, and the need for recreating villages around newborn mothers.

Anita Budak is one of three CORE organizers of EDN, a member of the EDN survey team, a birth doula from Croatia, a leader of the Croatian doula association, and a mother of three.

Ekaterina Cupelin is the director of the Postnatal Support Network. She is a mother of two, a full-spectrum doula and an anthropologist.

Manon Zuuring is the chairwoman of the Geboortenis Foundation. She is a mother of six, a midwife, a craniosacral therapist, the founder of the Prenatal Touch training, and a baby massage/yoga teacher. All her life, she has been intrigued by new life and the impact of the first 1000 days on human life.

The Postpartum Experience of Mothers in Europe survey is an essential step in our work for the Postnatal rEvolution Summit, which starts on November 26th with a series of online lectures by Robin Lim, Pam England, Ingrid Bayot, Noémie Faure, and Satya Kaur.

About Postnatal Support Network and the Postnatal rEvolution Summit

The Postnatal Support Network (PSN) addresses the importance of a well-informed and well-prepared Third Trimester, with a focus on the first 6 weeks postpartum. PSN is an international NGO promoting a supported and relaxed postnatal rest and bonding time. It organizes trainings for postnatal doulas and supporters, offers information for parents who are preparing themselves, and provides an online directory of local professionals.

With the Postnatal rEvolution Summit, PSN amplifies and expands its voice in collaboration with the European Doula Network (EDN) and Geboortenis Zutphen. This Summit brings together the shared vision to facilitate a dialogue between sectors and disciplines involved in postpartum care and its social relevance to the well-being of our society.
